This course is presented in three modules with six lessons per module. Each lesson will require you to complete essential oil profiles. It is suggested that you keep these profiles together in a separate binder. The student is encouraged to do extra reading, and a list of resources is provided in the book list. The student is also encouraged to experience essential oils. Please carefully read all safety information and the specific cautions for each individual essential oil and carrier oil before you use them in any way.
At the end of each lesson there is a test paper and at the end of each module there is an exam. These can be emailed but the Final Exam must be submitted with a co-signature that it is your own work.
At the completion of this course, the student will:
Have a working knowledge of the History of Essential Oils; have a working knowledge of 33 Essential Oils, their characteristics, precautions for use, and common therapeutic uses; He/She will know the fundamentals of safety in handling and uses of Essential Oils.
Students will also understand the production techniques and quality concerns in Essential Oils; Understand how they interact on the physical and emotional levels; Know how to evaluate the use of an Essential Oil for a specific individual; Know how to create a therapeutic blend; Know the characteristics and uses of 22 carrier oils; Know the basic methods of essential oil applications; Have an overview of the body systems, with detailed review of the olfactory system and skin; Have an overview of the chemical characteristics of essential oils and how they affect their uses, benefits, and cautions.
